Have you heard people speak of mental ‘mettle’? Or is this one of those important words that have lost their currency in the public mind?

Mettle is synonymous with courage and fortitude. A quick Google search yields: ‘The ability to cope well with difficulties or to face demanding situations in a spirited and resilient way.’ Google further states that ‘testing one’s mettle’ is about ‘discovering if you have the heart to follow through when the going gets tough.’

Clearly, heart and mind are both required to develop the mettle to face adversity –– not only with determination but with kindness, wisdom and the greater good in mind. Wouldn’t knowledge of this word be helpful for people to consider when there is so much today that requires our fortitude, courage, coping skills, heart and resilience?

On a side note, I find it interesting that the sound of mettle is so metallic and thus magnetic. For there is Metal and Mettle, Medal and Meddle. And just as metal is tempered and strengthened by heating and cooling to remove its impurities, so our mettle is forged in the Fire and Ice contained in the word and experience of Sacrifice.

Many of us are being tested now beyond anything we have ever previously endured. And while we may not receive a metal for our fortitude, we may achieve the altitude that enables us to experience a quality of consciousness that grants us peace of mind even in the midst of profoundly challenging circumstances. I believe that’s how one ultimately finds the transcendent state that allows us to overcome the world (John 16:33) and act with wisdom and compassion even in the face of incredible negativity, cruelty and danger.

Today, we are facing what appears to be the long-anticipated Apocalypse. We are bearing witness to the widespread destruction of the world as we know it –– and watching what may well be a global plot to take total control of humanity.

But what if this is precisely the kind of pressure that’s required for our Apotheosis –– the transformation in which we recognize and actualize our greatest expression as the Infinite in finite form? What if –– in response to the unthinkable we achieve the impossible and unify as the 1% in Consciousness who collectively lift humanity to a higher frequency?

After all, we have inborn capacities that exceed our conditioned sense of human capabilities. And one of the most prominent thought leaders today, Dr. Joe Dispenza, has cracked the code and literally written the book on Becoming SuperNatural.

A large percentage of those who study and consistently practice what Dr. Joe and others teach are experiencing healings, awakenings and prosperity at unprecedented and seemingly impossible levels. As more and more of us find our way to embodying and expressing ever more of our untapped potential, we may experience apotheosis –– the elevation of a human to the consciousness and kindness of the divine. Then we may see that Christ was not the exception but the exemplar of what is within us all to become.
